Weather Risk Management Expert

The role of the Weather Risk Management Expert is to lead and manage a team of meteorological and geological science experts in the field of natural perils management. This includes overseeing the development and implementation of models for risk-based pricing and reinsurance modeling, as well as providing advisory services on weather and geological risks.

Main Responsibilities:

• Oversee a team of meteorologists and geoscientists to ensure effective management of weather and geological risks.">
• Develop and implement models for risk-based pricing and reinsurance modeling to help clients mitigate their exposure to natural disasters.">
• Provide expert advice on weather and geological risks to clients, including loss reserving and reporting.">
• Manage major peril event operations, including classification and reporting.">
• Collaborate with Actuarial Reserving teams to enhance capabilities and improve client outcomes.">
• Provide short-term, medium-term, and long-term weather/climate outlooks and insights to clients.">

About You

We are looking for experienced professionals with a strong background in meteorology, atmospheric science, climate science, or geoscience. The ideal candidate will have:

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in catastrophe model development, insurance pricing, or related activities.">
• Expert ability to communicate complex analysis in a clear and concise manner.">
• High attention to detail and forward planning skills.">
• Experience in managing issues and stakeholders in large organizations.">
• Advanced leadership skills and experience in developing strong teams.">
• Experience in climate/weather research and/or collaborating with research organizations.">
• Proficiency in statistical software packages (R, SAS) and geospatial software (QGIS, ArcGIS).">
• An educational background in meteorology, atmospheric science, climate science, geoscience, or related fields.">
