Job Title:

Social Media Content Creator

As a key player in our dynamic online team, you'll support the Group Digital Editor and guide the social media strategy, growing our audience by identifying new opportunities.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilize graphic design and video tools such as Adobe Express to create captivating social media content.
  • Advise on the company's social media strategy and ensure the social media channels align with this strategy.
  • Identify trending story opportunities on social media.
  • Expand the online readership for the website.
  • Collaborate with digital producers, reporters, editors and the video team to provide optimal news coverage.
  • Maintain awareness of local, national and international news.
  • Explore new social media channels and opportunities to capture new audiences.
  • Ensure up-to-date knowledge of legal and ethical issues in reporting.
  • Continuously develop skills and stay updated with technology, digital and social trends.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Requirements:
  • A journalism degree or relevant experience in the media industry or in a similar role.
  • Strong work ethic and healthy level of initiative.
  • High level of literacy and attention to detail.
  • Good interview and communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously under high pressure.
  • Flexibility in a seven-day newsroom - including weekend shifts.
