About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Underwriter to join our International Financial Lines team at XL CATLIN. As an Underwriter, you will play a critical role in delivering a profitable underwriting service to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Underwrite business within the agreed business plan and individual authority
  • Support the business reporting, planning, and forecasting process
  • Monitor premium income and insured exposure
  • Maintain awareness of all claims advised while supporting and providing input on settlement of claims
  • Build and maintain relationships with brokers and clients
  • Support the design and structure of risks
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred and proven underwriting experience in the relevant classes of business
  • Ability to perform tasks according to established procedures with the ability to exercise discretion
  • Use judgment to identify and solve day-to-day problems in straightforward situations
  • Marketing skills to effectively plan for sales and business development
  • Negotiation/Sales skills to plan, structure, and conduct negotiations with brokers and/or clients
  • Analytical Skills to visualize, gather information, articulate, analyze, and solve complex problems
  • Interpersonal Savvy to build excellent interpersonal relationships with brokers, clients, and colleagues
  • Strategy and Planning skills to make underwriting decisions to fulfill business strategic plan and deliver results
  • Industry Knowledge to understand the insurance industry and specific product portfolios
