Transforming Mental Health Care for Individuals with Intellectual Disability

This role focuses on enhancing mental health outcomes for people living with co-occurring intellectual disability and mental health conditions. Through specialist support, collaborative consultation, and capacity building, you will contribute to timely transitions from hospital to quality community-based care.

Beyond direct clinical work, this position champions education and professional development, raising awareness of intellectual disability and mental health consumers by enhancing the knowledge and skills of mental health professionals. You will play a vital role in shaping inclusive care and strengthening support systems that foster long-term wellbeing.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Providing specialist support to individuals and their families or carers
  • Collaborating with healthcare professionals, service providers, and community organizations
  • Championing education and professional development for mental health staff

**Requirements:**

  • Recognized tertiary qualifications as an Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, Clinical Nurse Specialist, or Senior Psychologist
  • Substantial full-time postgraduate clinical experience, including working with individuals living with mental health and intellectual disability
  • Demonstrated expertise in specialized assessments and interventions suitable for individuals with mental health problems and disabilities
