Job Description:
- This role involves working within the WSLHD Needle and Syringe Program Team to provide a range of health care services for the prevention and care of blood borne viruses among injecting drug users.
- The aim of the program is to maintain and enhance the health of people who inject drugs by addressing issues specific to their needs, including provision of drug using equipment, brief interventions, education and skills development, welfare and referral as requested by the client, information access, advocacy, and other interventions which may enhance physical and psychological wellbeing.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Health or a related field are essential for this role.
- An understanding of harm minimisation, knowledge of blood borne viruses such as HIV, HCV and HBV, and a non-judgemental and empathic approach to people who inject drugs are also required.
- The ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and experience working with marginalised groups within a Needle and Syringe Program or other relevant service are highly valued.
