About the Role

As an IT Systems Engineer, you will perform system design activities, ensuring system architecture compatibility and consistency across subsystems. You will maintain the design of the system, including specifications and interface requirements specifications. Additionally, you will architect, develop, and maintain scalable software solutions across Windows and Linux environments.

  • Perform system design activities (including trade studies) to ensure that the system architecture is compatible with the baselined product and is consistent across all subsystems.
  • Maintain the design of the system including the specifications and interface requirements specifications as required.
  • Architect, develop, and maintain scalable software solutions across Windows and Linux environments.
  • Contribute to integration efforts with VMware, RedHat, and other virtualisation platforms.
  • Configure, manage, and troubleshoot enterprise-grade networking hardware and software stacks.
  • Apply strong cybersecurity practices in all development and deployment processes.
  • Ensure systems align with the Information Security Manual (ISM) and internal security standards.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Cybersecurity, Software, Engineering, and Technician Teams.
  • Travel to Woomera Test Range to support trial activities as required.
About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor or Masters degree in Engineering or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience in engineering with an ICT systems or infrastructure emphasis.
  • Networking protocols & hardware (e.g., firewalls, switches, routing, VLANs).
  • Windows & Linux (Red Hat Enterprise Linux preferred).
  • VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, and containerisation technologies.
  • ISM compliance and cybersecurity frameworks.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C++, PowerShell, Bash).

Proven ability to work independently in complex, regulated environments. The following certifications are highly desirable: RHCE / RHCSA (Red Hat), VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Cisco CCNA/CCNP or equivalent networking certifications, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent Microsoft Certified: Azure / Windows Server.
