About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Compliance and Project Officer to join our Technical Partners Health team at Griffith University. This is a key leadership position that will play a critical role in ensuring the Health Group meets all legislative and University compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice on compliance matters, including procurement, equipment handling, storage, disposal, and biological handling.
  • Implement measures of best practice to ensure compliance with legislation and University requirements.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the development and implementation of chemical and substance safety standards and practices.
  • Undertake special approvals for chemicals, biologicals, and equipment for Griffith Health.
  • Proactively identify, implement, and manage initiatives to improve compliance and safety.
Requirements
  • Hold a degree with relevant postgraduate qualifications in chemistry or a related field.
  • Have significant experience in providing chemical substance safety and project support in the higher education sector.
  • Extensive knowledge of chemical handling and legislation.
  • Exceptional communication, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Proven ability to lead and coach multidisciplinary teams.
  • Thorough knowledge of the legislative and regulatory framework pertaining to high-hazard laboratory environments.
