We are seeking a dedicated Catering & Domestic Assistant to join our compassionate team at Southern Cross Care Queensland.


This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to make a positive impact in the lives of our residents and colleagues alike.


The ideal candidate will be a team player with a 'can-do' attitude, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.


In this dual role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional support in both our Hospitality and Domestic teams. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the facility, while also assisting with meal preparation and service.


Your key responsibilities will include:



  • Food handling and preparation
  • Plating and serving of meals
  • Ensuring on-time delivery of quality meals
  • Basic record keeping (e.g. number of meals per day, missed meals)
  • Cleaning of dishes, kitchen workspace, equipment, utensils, and fixtures
  • Ensuring kitchen and equipment are maintained in a safe, hygienic, and tidy manner
  • Cleaning resident rooms, common areas, and bathrooms to the highest standard
  • Completing cleaning tasks as per schedules and documenting completion
  • Communicating and coordinating with other staff regarding cleaning requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:



  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A positive 'can-do' attitude and ability to work well under pressure
  • Experience working in commercial kitchens and hotel services roles (desirable)
  • Flexibility with start time and days (including weekends)
  • Good knowledge of food safety and HACCP principles
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage your time effectively
