Job Title: Visiting Medical Officer - Gastroenterology

The Gastroenterology Department at Wollongong Hospital is seeking a skilled Visiting Medical Officer to join our team. As a key member of the department, you will provide clinical management and treatment of patients with gastroenterological conditions.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, collaborating with experienced medical professionals and advanced trainees. You will be responsible for providing consultation and procedural services, working closely with other sub-specialties such as upper GIT surgery and colorectal surgery.

To be successful in this role, you will require strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You must also have a strong commitment to delivering high-quality patient care and be able to demonstrate empathy and understanding towards patients from diverse backgrounds.

Advanced trainees expecting to receive Fellowship of the RACP within 6 months may be considered for this role. We welcome applications from motivated and dedicated individuals who are passionate about delivering exceptional patient care.

Wollongong Hospital is located on Dharawal Country and offers a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient, and community-based services. The hospital has a bed-base count of over 500 and provides regular work in a department of 11 Staff Specialists.

The Department works closely with several other sub-specialties, including upper GIT surgery and colorectal surgery, with regular departmental clinical meetings where clinical cases are presented for review radiology and histology, as well as being part of regular UGIT Oncology MDT.

  • Applicable vaccination requirements for a Category A
  • Working With Children Check (WWCC)
  • Current AHPRA Registration and Fellowship with Royal Australian College of Physicians (FRACP)
  • Valid NSW Drivers Licence
