About the Role

In this position, you will play a vital role in the ongoing development and execution of the Integrated Water Management Strategy for Townsville. This includes the formulation and assessment of models and analyses pertinent to water engineering projects and initiatives. You will also be responsible for completing or overseeing the tendering and evaluation of relevant engineering designs and concepts for water-related projects. Additionally, you may manage the implementation of small-scale water capital projects as needed.

Your responsibilities will include providing technical insights into the review and analysis of policies, legislation, guidelines, and licensing related to water resource management, as well as offering specialist and technical advice on monitoring programs and the preparation of water resource management plans.

Specifically, you will be involved in delivering projects in the following areas:

Investigations into water management (loss and demand management) Hydraulic modeling of network performance Water balances Engineering of water systems Water treatment processes

About You

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in civil, chemical, or environmental engineering, along with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience relevant to this role. RPEQ certification or eligibility for certification is highly desirable.

You will have a comprehensive understanding and technical expertise in water resource management, including the design and operation of water networks and treatment systems. The ability to collaborate effectively within a team across diverse projects and tasks is essential. Experience with GIS is also preferred.

A demonstrated capacity to work both independently and as part of a team, coupled with strong time management and organizational skills, is crucial. You should also possess highly developed interpersonal, communication (both written and verbal), and negotiation skills.
