We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Painter and Coating Supervisor to join our team at Austal. As a key member of our painting operations, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of painting projects, from initial planning and preparation to final execution and quality control.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate the activities of painting crews and contractors to ensure timely completion of projects.
- Plan and schedule painting projects to meet customer requirements and company deadlines.
- Inspect surfaces to determine the type and amount of work required, ensuring that all work is performed in accordance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Provide quotes on projects, including schedule information and material requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and project progress, ensuring that all data is up-to-date and easily accessible.
- Communicate with internal customers to understand their requirements and provide updates on project status, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and satisfied.
- Order and maintain inventory of painting supplies and equipment, ensuring that all necessary materials are available when needed.
- Train and mentor apprentice painters to develop their skills and knowledge, ensuring that all team members are equipped to perform their duties effectively.
- Conduct quality control inspections to ensure that all work meets the required standards, identifying and addressing any issues or defects.
- Resolve any issues or problems that arise during the course of the project, working collaboratively with other teams and stakeholders to find solutions.
- Collaborate with other trades and contractors to ensure smooth project execution, ensuring that all work is completed on time and within budget.
- Prepare and submit reports on project progress and any issues encountered, providing regular updates to management and stakeholders.
- Ensure that all tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored, ensuring that all necessary resources are available when needed.
- Manage project budgets and control costs to ensure profitability, identifying areas for cost savings and implementing effective solutions.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries, ensuring that all team members are aware of and comply with safety procedures.
- Provide hands-on support and assistance to painting crews as needed, ensuring that all team members have the necessary resources and support to perform their duties effectively.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials, ensuring that all necessary resources are available when needed.
- Attend project meetings and provide input on project planning and execution, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and engaged.
- Proven experience as a Painter and Coating Supervisor or similar role, with a strong background in painting and coating applications.
- Level 2 NACE certification, with a strong understanding of painting techniques, materials, and equipment.
- Extensive knowledge of painting techniques, materials, and equipment, with a strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and direct a team of painters and contractors.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings, with a strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices.
- High risk license, forklift, cherry picker, and Working at Heights ticket, with a strong understanding of confined space safety and gas test atmosphere training.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions quickly, with a strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong understanding of project management software and basic computer skills.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality results.
- Experience with different types of paint and finishes, with a strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices.
- Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment, with a strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
