About the Role

The Commissioning Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for producing mechanical deliverables under the direction of the Commissioning Lead on the Major Project team in Melbourne. The role involves assisting the Commissioning Discipline Lead with reviewing vendor commissioning procedures and test documentation, advising on vendor proposals, and extending the commissioning scope through all commissioning stages.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Commissioning Discipline Lead with reviewing vendor commissioning procedures and test documentation.
  • Advise on vendor proposals and extend the commissioning scope through all commissioning stages.
  • Attend vendor/supplier coordination meetings as required.
  • Develop work packs and close out, assembling all required documentation, and assist with developing basis of Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS).
  • Develop technical/QA documentation as required to fulfill commissioning activities.
  • Resolve discipline/equipment-related site/engineering queries, prepare, and submit Request for Information (RFI) documents to clarify design intent or resolve construction and commissioning issues.
  • Manage punch list process for discipline-specific punch items, raise PL items, track, and close out.
  • Coordinate construction completion tracking, handover, Construction Completion Certificate (CCC) sign-off, and acceptance.
  • Input into Commissioning Readiness Review process.
  • Complete Commissioning ITPs/ITRs.
  • Input into commissioning program development/updates.
  • Input into discipline-based commissioning activities Risk Assessment (RA) process.
  • Provide engineering assistance as required for UGL MEI scope field installation, functional, and remote commissioning activities.
  • Collaborate with third-party inspectors and regulatory agencies to obtain necessary permits and approvals.
  • Assist with completion of all project documentation and closeout activities in accordance with project requirements and industry standards.
  • Manage change orders and variations to scope, ensuring proper documentation and approval processes are followed.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • 5 years' experience in Commissioning Engineer roles with at least 5 years' experience in Design or Project/Discipline Engineer roles.
  • Experience in mechanical systems design/construction for tunnel or building services projects is desirable.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally.
  • Proficient skills in computers: MS Word, Excel, Access, and email.
  • Strong communication skills (oral & written) including strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally.
