About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in the Resources Sector. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the Resources Hub by providing consultancy services, engineering services, technical input, and direction in design. You will also assist with the pursuit and delivery of key opportunities within the new energy and resources sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the mechanical engineering elements of materials handling and process infrastructure projects, ensuring integration with other engineering disciplines.
  • Collaborate with project teams to design mechanical systems and equipment for civil construction and mining projects.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, perform calculations, and create detailed engineering designs.
  • Solve complex problems and take a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions.
  • Apply functional knowledge and existing methodologies to complex problems.
  • Specialize in the design, analysis, and troubleshooting of bulk materials handling systems, including crushers, conveyors, stackers, reclaimers, and ship loaders.
  • Utilize DEM (Discrete Element Method) analysis to optimize materials handling processes.
  • Plan and manage complex large-scale projects, including coordinating the preparation of cost estimates, tender submissions, technical documentation, client reports, and monitoring project progress.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on cost, on time, and result in client satisfaction.
  • Provide oversight functions on projects.
  • Lead project teams to achieve milestones and objectives.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including project managers, engineers, technicians, and contractors, to coordinate mechanical engineering activities.
  • Communicate effectively to convey technical information, provide guidance, and address project requirements.
  • Develop and maintain strong key client relationships.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to a select group of Jacobs key clients across the sector.
  • Collaborate closely with Jacobs's client management team to identify emerging opportunities with clients.
  • Interpret internal or external business issues and recommend best practices.
  • Identify applications of functional knowledge and existing methodologies to complex problems.
  • Maintain compliance with Jacobs QA procedures, including the deliverables review QA process.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in all mechanical engineering activities.
About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer who has a strong background in mechanical engineering, particularly in the resources sector. You will have a relevant tertiary engineering degree and demonstrated professional experience predominantly within the mining resources sector. You will also have specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in mechanical engineering with proven ability to independently use advanced theoretical knowledge of engineering principles to analyze, interpret, and conclude on complex matters or decisions.

You will have robust knowledge of international and local civil engineering methods, applicable codes and specifications associated with resources projects. You will also have experience with various aspects of the planning, design, and commissioning processes, construction methods, and interface requirements of multi-disciplinary projects. You will have solid knowledge of planning, study, detailed design, commissioning, and close-out resources and/or new energy projects, with sound knowledge of current design standards.

You will have experience in delivering EPC and/or EPCM projects held in high regard. You will also have a strategic and innovative mindset coupled with the ability to solve complex problems, using strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with others.
