Electrician/Instrument Technician Job Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for skilled Electricians and Instrument Technicians to work in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain all fixed plant and site infrastructure through planned maintenance and inspection activities.
  • Inspect and test electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment and repair.
  • Assist in developing maintenance plans and planning for shutdowns.
  • Provide electrical services for unplanned maintenance and breakdowns.
  • Undertake fault finding and take corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant electrical regulations, industry standards, and statutory requirements.
  • Ensure that plant and equipment are maintained to a high level of availability.
  • Support the maintenance planning function by providing accurate information via completion of work orders and inspection reports and other relevant feedback.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supply personnel on electrical purchasing and stock items.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with processing and metallurgy personnel to ensure optimum equipment performance and availability.
  • Ensure that all workshop, facilities, and equipment are maintained in good working order.
  • Provide mentoring and supervision of junior maintenance and trades assistant personnel.
  • Attend to breakdowns and call-outs as required.
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained within the manufacturers' specifications.
Requirements and Qualifications

Applicants should have a strong background in electrical engineering and/or instrument technology, with experience in maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
