Senior Technical Manager for Aids to Navigation

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires the right candidate to lead and manage the engineering team responsible for delivering expert technical support and oversight across the construction, maintenance, and repair of Aids to Navigation (AtoN) structures and systems.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing the AtoN engineering team, ensuring high-quality outputs, staff development, and welfare. They will also be involved in developing and implementing strategic engineering policies, standards, and documentation, as well as overseeing technical assessments, reports, and specifications related to AtoN infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will have a degree in engineering or a related technical field, with at least 5 years' experience leading technical functions. Chartered Engineer status or the ability to obtain Australian professional accreditation is highly desirable.
To succeed in this role, you will also need to demonstrate expertise in engineering governance, design processes, and technical operations, as well as a strong understanding of structural assets within marine or coastal environments.
The role will involve providing expert engineering advice to support project delivery, overseeing lifecycle assessment, analysing asset condition and performance data to inform maintenance strategies, and managing technical documentation, qualified equipment lists, and modification control processes.
You will play a key role in shaping the future of the AtoN program and contribute to the safety of international shipping and domestic commercial vessels.
