Safety Response Team Leader

Role Overview

The Specialist Harmful Sexual Behaviours (HSB) Program provides a specialist, trauma-safe and culturally safe response to children and young people who are displaying harmful sexual behaviours. The service offers opportunities for healing, support, counselling, and a therapeutic response; working holistically with all those around the child or young person.

This role requires the ability to supervise and lead a team of Counsellors and Aboriginal Outreach Support Workers within the Specialist HSB Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • To provide supervision and guidance to Counsellors and Aboriginal Outreach Support Workers ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality services.
  • To work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to foster strong working relationships and achieve program goals.
  • To develop and implement strategies to enhance the service's capacity to respond to the complex needs of children and young people exhibiting harmful sexual behaviours.

This is a Full-time fixed term 38 hours per week until December 2026 opportunity based in Port Hedland, WA within our Specialist Harmful Sexual Behaviour Program. The position reports to the Principal Practitioner WA/NT.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Master's level qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, Aboriginal Studies or a related field with clinical experience.
  • Demonstrated capacity in working collaboratively within a team, and with internal and external stakeholders, to foster strong working relationships.
  • A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people, and their families.
  • Knowledge of, and experience in, working with children and young people who have been impacted by trauma, and those who display harmful sexual behaviours.

You Must Have
  • Valid and current Driver's Licence;
  • Satisfactory Criminal History Check (paid for by us);
  • Valid Employee Working with Children Check;
