**Compliance Role Overview**

The Compliance Officer role involves ensuring the electrical industry meets safety standards. This is a critical position in promoting safety outcomes and preventing non-compliant work practices.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Assess, inspect and audit electrical installations for compliance with relevant legislation, standards and Energy Safe requirements.
  • Respond to complaints regarding potential breaches of the Act, Regulations, Standards and unsafe work practices.
  • Carry out technical assessments of electrical works, make enquiries and lead investigations into incidents and events where there are potential breaches.
  • Exercise enforcement powers as an appointed Enforcement Officer under the Electricity Safety Act 1998.
  • Prepare and present evidence to support enforcement action, including leading and assisting with investigations and attending courts, tribunals and hearings.

**Required Skills and Qualifications:**

  • Current electrician's license in Victoria or equivalent.
  • Broad range of electrical industry experience.
  • Practical knowledge of electrical installation work principles and practices.
  • Experience in auditing systems, processes and investigations to ensure compliance.

**Working Conditions:**

This role may involve working independently and collaboratively within the team to achieve regulatory objectives. Travel to various sites across the region is required, potentially including overnight stays. The ability to respond to emergencies and attend serious injury and fatality incident scenes is essential.
