General Surgery Fellowship Opportunity

We are seeking an exceptional Post Graduate Fellow to join our team at Lismore Base Hospital. This 12-month position offers a unique chance to develop your skills in General Surgery, working alongside experienced professionals in a state-of-the-art facility.

Your primary responsibility will be to provide comprehensive care, management, and coordination of patients in the care of the Surgical Department – General Surgery. You will work under the supervision and guidance of Consultants to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Lismore Base Hospital is a Level 5 base hospital providing a wide range of health services to residents in Northern NSW. Our facilities include a state-of-the-art Operating Theatre Suite, Intensive Care/Cardiac Care Unit, General Medical and Surgical Wards, Womens Care Unit, Paediatric Unit, Renal Unit, Emergency Department, Medical Imaging department, and Cardiac Catheter Laboratory.

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • MBBS or equivalent, current registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Post Graduate qualification in General Surgery FRACS.
  • Demonstrated interest in rural/regional General Surgery.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with appropriate independence within supervised, complex clinical environment.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills (verbal and written), and computer skills, with demonstrated good organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team, as well as a professional attitude and flexibility.
  • Preparedness and ability to participate in after-hours overtime and on-call rosters.
  • Valid unrestricted drivers license for use in NSW/Australia and willingness to travel in the course of employment
