About the Role

The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) is seeking a highly skilled Senior Analyst/Economist to join its Macroeconomic Conditions team. As a key member of the team, you will play a critical role in analyzing and monitoring key financial system risks and vulnerabilities, and exploring their implications for APRA-regulated industries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of key financial system risks and vulnerabilities, and assess their implications for APRA-regulated industries.
  • Identify and assess emerging risks in the economy and their implications for the financial system, including for macroprudential policy settings.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of key drivers and trends in the residential property market, and monitor for potential risks to the financial system.
  • Contribute to the development of narratives and macro scenarios for stress testing, and provide macro updates and presentations to internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including the Reserve Bank of Australia, to advance the team's analysis and insights.

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Demonstrated experience in macroeconomic analysis and a strong understanding of financial systems.
  • Excellent data and financial analysis capabilities, with proficiency in R or other relevant programming languages.
  • An inquiring approach to your work, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality analysis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with senior stakeholders both internally and externally.
