Job Overview

The role of National Buyer is a fantastic opportunity to learn and develop skills in merchandise management. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for executing strategic activities within determined product categories and providing direction to key personnel.

This role offers the chance to work with a supportive team, learning about our products and developing your skills in negotiation, problem-solving, and relationship building.

PFD Food Services is a leading distributor of food and related products to the food service industry. With a strong focus on customer service and quality, we deliver an extensive range of products to cafes, restaurants, pubs, clubs, schools, and other foodservice businesses.

The purpose of this role is to manage a small portfolio of national suppliers, negotiate supplier terms, and assist with monthly promotional brochure creation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing a small portfolio of national suppliers and performing tasks such as negotiating supplier terms and managing new line requests and range reviews.
  • Negotiating promotional program participation and reviewing cost changes.
  • Assisting with national income analysis and preferred supplier listings by category.
  • Attending supplier meetings as required and understanding all facets of the Merchandise Team roles.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. You should also have experience in effective decision making and problem-solving, analytical skills, and advanced computer skills.

Additionally, you should be proactive and self-motivated, with a strong attention to detail and ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
