Poultry Farming Specialist

This is a full-time position that may involve weekend work and some unplanned hours.

Main Duties:

  • Provide technical knowledge to advise on raising poultry for egg and meat production.
  • Select and purchase poultry stock.
  • Advise and administer feeds and water supply.
  • Manage proper disinfection processes for poultry houses, cages, and nests.
  • Manage vaccination programs for the poultry flock.
  • Inspect and dispose of or segregate infected poultry.
  • Collect, inspect, and pack eggs and select and crate pullets and fryers for shipment.
  • Maintain growth, feed, and production records.
  • Advise and manage breeding fertility and incubation processes.

Key Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge in animal husbandry, animal welfare, and legislation, poultry production, and OH&S.
  • Computer programming skills are an advantage.

Requirements:

A Diploma in Agriculture or higher, plus 3 years of recent relevant work experience. Preferred Qualifications: Additional certifications in related fields can be beneficial for career advancement.
