Teacher - Special Education, Hearing Impairment

Newling Public School is a progressive school that serves the community of East Armidale and provides an alternative learning centre for students who travel from other parts of the town. The school caters to diverse student needs, with a current enrolment of 160 students. Our supportive and caring atmosphere promotes a challenging learning environment for all students.
The role requires flexibility, as you will be based at Newling Public School and also travel to support hearing-impaired students in various educational settings.
- Approval to teach Hearing Impairment, primary and/or secondary. Auslan desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, deliver, and evaluate differentiated learning plans to meet the complex needs of hearing-impaired students across different educational settings.
- Demonstrated capacity and willingness to engage in professional learning, including hearing technology, Key Word Sign, Auslan, and augmentative communication systems to support communication and equal access to the curriculum.
- Highly developed communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills to build positive relationships and work collaboratively with students, staff, parents, and external agencies to meet the needs of students with hearing loss.
- A teaching qualification with approval to teach Hearing Impairment, primary and/or secondary.
- A strong understanding of differentiated learning plans and their application in supporting hearing-impaired students.
- Proficiency in Auslan or a demonstrated commitment to learning Auslan.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
