We are seeking a seasoned Principal Electrical Engineer to join our team in Perth. In this role, you will oversee and direct the electrical engineering and instrumentation function across minerals processing and supporting site infrastructure projects, spanning studies, design, and delivery in Australia and internationally.

The key responsibilities of this position include:

">
  • Coordinating project electrical and instrumentation design activities to ensure timely delivery of quality products that meet client requirements.
  • Supervising the work of Design Engineers and Designer/Drafting staff to maintain adherence to technical standards and team satisfaction objectives.
  • Leading with integrity and accountability, managing performance, mentoring, coaching, training, recruiting, and retaining high-performing team members.
  • Selecting and managing the performance of external electrical and instrumentation consultants.
  • Preparing budgets, time schedules, and resourcing plans for management approval and overseeing assigned projects for quality and change control.
  • Participating in the development and continuous improvement of the quality management process and providing vision for innovation in engineering practices.
  • Supporting Project Development activities through concept setting and review, as well as communication with clients.
  • Collaborating closely with other Principal Engineers to ensure a unified multidiscipline approach to providing engineering solutions and resolving complex problems.
  • Driving collaboration with business units (including business development, projects, commissioning, operations) and regional engineering groups to ensure consistent, quality, and appropriate engineering outcomes.
  • Employing effective interpersonal skills to build successful working relationships and foster a culture of safety leadership.
  • Nurturing industry contacts and networking to maintain existing relationships and establish new ones as the industry evolves.

This opportunity requires:

">
  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 15 years' experience in design consultancy environments in an engineering capacity.
  • Metals and Minerals Processing industry experience.
  • Leadership and management expertise in technical/project teams.
  • Experience in heavy industry environments.
  • Strong technical foundation in Electrical and Instrumentation design, specification, and procurement management, including HV, LV, and ELV power distribution and motor control.
  • Understanding of key electrical engineering design activities, including Hazardous Area, Functional Safety, Lightning Protection, Lighting, and Power system studies.

Desirable qualifications include:

  • CPENG and/or RPEng accreditation.
  • Project management experience.
  • Skills in MS Office suite.
