Piano Teaching Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and qualified Piano specialist to join our team as a 0.6 FTE Piano Teacher.

The successful applicant will have the ability and qualification to teach Piano through the VCE syllabus, AMEB, and ABRSM. Ability and qualification to teach classroom music through to VCE level are highly favourable. Ability to accompany choirs and soloists is necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To deliver high-quality Piano lessons to students of varying skill levels.
  • To develop and implement engaging and effective lesson plans that cater to individual student needs.
  • To maintain accurate records of student progress and provide regular feedback to parents and students.
  • To contribute to the school community by participating in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and other relevant activities.
  • To adhere to the Department's values and policies, as well as the school's vision and mission.

Selection Criteria:

  • SC1: Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate literacy and numeracy skills into teaching practices. Demonstrated experience in responding to student learning needs.
  • SC2: Demonstrated experience in planning for and implementing high-impact teaching strategies, guided by how students learn, and evaluating the impact of learning and teaching programs on student learning growth.
  • SC3: Demonstrated experience in monitoring and assessing student learning. Demonstrated experience in using data to inform teaching practice and providing feedback on student learning growth and achievement to students and parents.
  • SC4: Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, and the broader school community to support student learning, agency, wellbeing, and engagement.
  • SC5: Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values. Demonstrated experience in reflecting upon practice and engaging in professional learning to continually improve the quality of teaching.
