About the Role

This position leads a team involved in a variety of tasks associated with maintaining and constructing Council's Civil Infrastructure. These responsibilities include allocating resources, completing planned and reactive tasks, coordinating and supervising contractors, leading the team, providing assistance with renewal and construction of Capital Works Projects, operating plant and equipment, ensuring compliance with regulations, and mentoring and coaching team members.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has experience in maintenance and construction of Civil Infrastructure, as well as supervision and coordination of staff. The ideal candidate will have a Certificate IV or Diploma in Civil Maintenance or related field, a Driver's Licence (Class HR or HC) - NSW, a White Card - General Construction, and over 5 years of experience in a similar role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Allocate resources to carry out tasks associated with maintenance, repair, replacement or upgrade of Council's Civil Infrastructure.
  • Complete planned and reactive tasks including maintenance of unsealed roads and table drains, removal of spoil and other materials, cleaning and repair/reconstruction of drainage structures, weed spraying and other civil related duties.
  • Assist with coordination and supervision of contractors if required.
  • Lead the team including completion and/or approvals of required documents, timesheets/leave requests, WHS checklists, customer and works requests.
  • Provide assistance with renewal and construction of Capital Works Projects.
  • Operate plant and equipment including daily maintenance checks and reporting of issues.
  • Ensure compliance with National Heavy Vehicle Law and Chain of Responsibility requirements.
  • Assist in reviewing guidelines and procedures including identification of efficiencies within Council's maintenance activities.
  • Mentor and coach team members including training of new team members.

About You

  • Certificate IV or Diploma in Civil Maintenance or related field.
  • Driver's Licence (Class HR or HC) - NSW.
  • White Card - General Construction.
  • Greater than 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Extensive experience in maintenance and construction of Civil Infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated experience in supervision and coordination of staff.
