Senior Lawyer, Transport Operations

This is a Fixed Term Position for 12 months. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Lawyer to provide high-quality legal services to Land Use Victoria's divisions of Land Registry Services and Strategic Land Assessment & Information, the Registrar of Titles, the Surveyor-General Victoria, and the Valuer-General Victoria.
Key Responsibilities- Review and provide advice on the terms of, draft and negotiate a range of contracts for Land Use Victoria (DTP).
- Manage or be involved in tender processes in accordance with the requirements of the Victorian Government Purchasing Board.
- Provide strategic and authoritative legal advice to Land Use Victoria on complex and/or sensitive public law and commercial law issues.
- Negotiate and liaise with a wide range of internal and external service providers, customer groups, and other stakeholders.
- Assist as required in the delivery of other legal advice and perform other duties and tasks as directed.
- The ideal candidate will be an individual who can keep themselves and others calm under pressure, make decisive decisions, and chart effective courses of action to resolve challenging situations.
- Our ideal candidate will be someone who can quickly adapt systems and processes to meet changing priorities and situations.
- The ability to use clear and concise language, prepare and deliver logical sequential and succinct presentations, and present information to develop the understanding of the topic.
- Able to commit to delivering high-quality outcomes for clients, monitor customer satisfaction to gain critical insights, look for continuous improvement opportunities, and ways to innovate.
- Capable of defining tasks to be delivered to meet agreed outcomes, execute work tasks against plan, prioritize tasks in line with the urgency and impact of tasks, monitor progress of tasks against plans, and take corrective action when required.
- Able to resolve issues through deep understanding or interpretation of existing guidelines, where guidelines are not available, analyze ideas available, and take action through self or in consultation with others to resolve problems.
- Mandatory Qualifications and Admission: Law degree or other formal qualification in law.
- Admitted, or eligible for admission, as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria.
- Knowledge: Sound knowledge of contract law and of the requirements of the Victorian Government Purchasing Board in respect of contracts entered into by State Government Departments.
- Experience: Demonstrated experience in the interpretation, review, and development of contracts, contract law, public and administrative law, and the formulation of complex and/or sensitive legal advice.
