Job Overview

The Assistant Production Manager plays a vital role in the safe execution of External Maintenance Availabilities, Maintenance Windows of Opportunity, and Defect Rectification Periods on NSM contracted defense platforms.

This position is responsible for overseeing subcontractor performance at a project level, providing leadership to Subcontractor Coordinators, and ensuring improvement initiatives are developed and recognized.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Health Safety Environment drive for a 'Safety First' Culture on Project
  • Mentor, Manage, and provide leadership to Subcontractor Coordinators
  • Engage subcontractors to support project requirements
  • Ensure subcontractor task allocation aligns with the NSM Procurement Policy
  • Assist in evaluating subcontractors' variation claims and review estimates for emergent works, ensuring Value for Money
  • Provide continuous subcontractor performance reviews to all stakeholders
  • Manage the collection of schedule data from subcontractors for assigned projects
Requirements
  • Strong commitment to developing and maintaining a safe working environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of accounting and purchasing/process/systems (SAP or similar)
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently to meet multiple deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and maintain morale of subordinates
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Desirable Qualifications
  • AMPS experience
  • Degree or Diploma in Engineering or Trade background and equivalent experience
  • Project Management Systems experience
Essential Compliance Requirements
  • Must either hold or be eligible to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance
  • Construction Induction Card (White Card)
