The Westpac Group is a leading financial institution with a long history of excellence. We are seeking an experienced Senior Analyst to join our Operational Risk team.

Job Description

In this role, you will work closely with key business stakeholders and other Group Audit teams to conduct independent reviews of risk frameworks, risk practices, systems, policies, and procedures. Your primary objective will be to identify areas for remediation and opportunities for enhancement across the Westpac Group.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Support the delivery of audit planning, including the identification of processes, risks, and controls for testing.
  • Conduct day-to-day audit activities for the operational risk, risk culture, and insights team, including risk insights, continuous monitoring, and other group audit improvement initiatives.
  • Test the design and operating effectiveness of controls and risk practices.
  • Identify and document audit issues, including performing a significance analysis and agreeing management action plans.
  • Collaborate with Group audit teams.

Requirements:

  • Substantial experience in the financial services industry in Audit or a similar risk discipline.
  • Experience with Data Analytics, utilizing PowerBI visualisations and dashboards to summarise key insights in relation to potential risks and opportunities across business processes (preferable).
  • Professional qualifications (or working towards) such as Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA), or Institute of Internal Audit (IIA) are highly regarded.
  • Knowledge of risk management frameworks and risk practices. Compliance background will also be considered.
  • Intermediate analytical and communication skills with attention to detail.
  • A proactive, solution-focused attitude and the ability to think critically to solve problems and recommend actions.
