Position Overview

We are looking for a committed Senior Respiratory Scientist to enhance our operations at the North West Regional Hospital. This facility is equipped with a state-of-the-art lung function laboratory, conducting comprehensive lung function assessments for both adult and pediatric patients.

Role Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the staff specialist in respiratory medicine, the successful candidate will possess experience in a respiratory function unit or a comparable environment. A robust understanding of respiratory function assessments and equipment, including arterial blood gas analysis and venepuncture, is essential. The role demands excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal abilities, and the capability to operate independently with minimal oversight.

The Senior Respiratory Scientist will be responsible for:

  • Assisting Clinical Directors in strategizing and overseeing the operation and advancement of the Lung Function Laboratory, ensuring compliance with departmental requirements and national standards.
  • Delivering safe, high-quality, and compassionate patient care through effective laboratory operations, staff training, conducting routine and complex tests, and engaging in educational and research initiatives.

Appointment Details

This is a fixed-term part-time position, requiring 38 hours per fortnight. Salary is competitive, ranging from $106,966 to $123,013 pro rata per annum, with an additional employer superannuation contribution of 11.5%.

Employees will benefit from a salary package that includes various perks, such as living expenses and meal entertainment allowances, subject to eligibility.

Professional Development

Successful candidates may also receive a Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 annually.

Essential Criteria

Applicants must be eligible for membership in the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand.
