We seek a seasoned senior mortgage underwriter to contribute to our risk management strategies.
About the Job:- Evaluate client creditworthiness and assess lending risks
- Provide recommendations for sound decision-making
- Conduct thorough mortgage application analyses
- Manage up to $2.5m in lending delegations
- Mentor junior underwriters and support their professional growth
- Cultivate trusted relationships with brokers and customers
- Provide scenario assistance to business development managers and brokers
- At least 2 years of underwriting experience in residential mortgages, with a focus on non-conforming mortgages
- A comprehensive understanding of relevant regulatory legislation
- Proactive problem-solving skills and initiative
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including a professional telephone manner
- A technical understanding of underwriting and ability to communicate effectively with clients, customers, and colleagues
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to shape and negotiate deals
- The ability to thrive in high-pressure environments
