Job Overview

This Refrigeration Engineer position requires an individual with a strong background in refrigeration and air conditioning to support the preparation of financial and technical submissions for tendering activities. The successful candidate will revise costs and manage recommendation documentation relating to refrigeration and air conditioning installation for Endeavour Group retail sites.

The ideal candidate will coordinate, plan, and manage the refrigeration, HVAC, and engineering services for all new-store and refurbishment projects within agreed timeframes and budgets. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing day-to-day procurement (including tendering activities and recommendations) of refrigeration investment.
  • Supporting the development of the tendering strategy for refrigeration investment (design, installation, equipment procurement & maintenance).
  • Establishing the scope and specifications of contracts for which submissions are prepared.
  • Ensuring engineering design intent and field feedback is maintained during scoping and tendering.
  • Managing tendering activity in alignment with construction schedules.
  • Preparing accurate, timely tender scopes and submissions; assisting with variation submission validity and value.
  • Accountability for Safety/Time/Cost/Quality for refrigeration, HVAC, and engineering scopes of works.
  • Managing tendering and awarding of works for refrigeration, HVAC, and engineering.
  • Ensuring services are delivered to latest kit and specifications.
  • Managing project financials including cost reporting and forecasting.
  • Scoping, reviewing, and providing condition audit reports for existing sites.
  • Liaising with property owners/landlords/developers on sites.
  • Supporting on-site sustainability initiatives (e.g., refrigeration replacements, retrofit of doors on open cases).
  • Coordinating post-project documentation and warranty work.
Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a Trade qualification – Certificate III in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning or relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering or science. A minimum of 5 years of experience in construction projects is required, along with a General Construction Industry White Card. Additionally, the candidate should be able to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, and store CAD plans.

Procore and SAP knowledge would be beneficial, as well as experience in highly disruptive fit-out environments. Experience in retail projects and QS and/or cost planning experience will be well regarded.
