Job Overview

We are seeking a seasoned legal professional to join our team in a key advisory role. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert legal counsel and support to the business, including drafting and reviewing complex commercial contracts, advising on strategic transactions, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IT contract law, competition law, privacy law, and telecommunications law. They will also possess excellent negotiation and drafting skills, as well as experience in corporate and commercial transactions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drafting and reviewing legal documentation, including contracts, agreements, and policies;
  • Providing expert advice and guidance to management on complex legal issues;
  • Representing the organisation in response to legal disputes, action, audit, inquiries or investigation where necessary;
  • Ensuring the organisation is informed of new or proposed legislation, court or regulatory body findings and policy, updating current terms and conditions and processes and procedures to accommodate regulatory changes and ensure the organisation is compliant.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of Commercial and IT Contract Law, Competition and Consumer Law, Privacy Law (Australian, GDPR & the US) and Telecommunications law.
  • Exposure and understanding of compliance principles and processes and compliance experience in a commercial environment.
  • Experience in corporate and commercial transactions.
  • Effective negotiation and drafting skills.

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years' experience in IT/Telecommunications/contracts Lawyer, coupled with appropriate tertiary qualifications. Experience in privacy law (Australian and the GDPR), telecommunications law, and compliance in a commercial environment would be advantageous.
