Expert Medical Practitioner in Emergency Medicine

The position of Staff Specialist involves delivering high-quality medical care to patients within the emergency department.
This specialist will work collaboratively with a dedicated team in a tertiary referral hospital and major trauma center, serving one of the state's busiest emergency departments.
The annual caseload exceeds 80,000, with high acuity, an admission rate of 36%, 21% pediatric cases, and a culturally diverse population base.
The emergency department is supported by extensive inpatient subspecialty rosters, in-department imaging services, and offers educational activities, teaching, and research opportunities.
This role includes weekend and evening shifts, as well as participation in an overnight on-call roster.
Key Responsibilities and Qualifications- Registration or eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA).
- Fellowship of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine and/or equivalent specialist recognition as provided for by the Health Insurance Act 1973 and the relevant Award/Determination.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development and self-assessment practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position.
- Demonstrated capacity and experience in providing effective high-quality service in the specialty.
- Commitment to teaching and research.
