Technical Officer Role

  • We are seeking a skilled professional to join our team as a Technical Officer.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring efficient running and providing animal care.
  • This role involves coordinating researcher relocation, maintaining facility compliance and providing routine animal care.
  • The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication and coordination abilities.

About the Role

This is a 2-year fixed-term full-time position primarily located at HMRI with occasional work at Callaghan Campus.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate researcher relocation and lab setup between locations.
  • Oversee daily operations, maintaining compliance with biosecurity protocols, animal welfare standards and relevant legislation.
  • Provide routine animal care, maintain clean environments and operate essential equipment.
  • Act as the first point of contact for researchers and staff, solving problems independently and ensuring clear communication and support.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in animal care or veterinary nursing within a PC2 environment.
  • A genuine commitment to animal welfare.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
  • Knowledge of animal welfare legislation and guidelines.
