The Team Leader will be responsible for leading a team to enhance data inputs for operational and delivery projects in the State Government of Victoria, Australia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team to enhance data inputs for operational and delivery projects
  • Build positive working relationships with project managers and collaborate with internal corporate divisions to enhance data quality
  • Proactively identify areas in the business for analysis, develop recommendations, and influence decision-making
  • Communicate complex financial issues effectively through verbal and written reports
  • Motivate others to deliver against team objectives and build team commitment
  • Interpret and transform financial and non-financial data to enable effective reporting
  • Review and revise monthly forecasts and accruals for expenditure
  • Analyse data to articulate trends, provide rationale for variances, and provide recommendations for embedding insights from analysis to drive action
  • Support the implementation of the State Government of Victoria, Australia Data Governance Framework through stakeholder engagement, communication, and process improvement activities
  • Act as a data steward who ensures that data policies and standards are adhered to
  • Clearly define staff roles and performance expectations
  • Provide support through timely resolution of professional issues and problems
  • Delegate responsibilities that will stretch staff to further their development
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders

Requirements:

  • People management experience and ability to lead an effective team to deliver against goals
  • Well-developed interpersonal and engagement skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships
  • Reasonable finance and budgeting skills within a project environment
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and attention to detail
  • Problem-solving mindset
  • Accounting knowledge - a sound understanding of accounting principles and standards as applied in the government sector
  • Ability to analyse detailed financial information into clear advice for management to drive outcomes
