Diesel Fitting Expert

The Whitsunday Regional Council is seeking a skilled Mechanical Tradesperson to ensure the reliability, safety and compliance of plant and fleet assets. This role involves hands-on diagnostics, repairs and preventive maintenance to support essential community services.

This position requires a strong understanding of mechanical trade disciplines, including diesel fitting, metal arc welding, MIG and oxy cutting and welding.

• Perform diagnostics, repairs and preventative maintenance on Council's fleet assets.

• Engage and manage suitably qualified external providers for specialized repairs and maintenance.

• Ensure all fleet, plant, equipment and workshop environments comply with statutory regulations.

• C Class Open Licence.
• Trade qualification in Mechanical (Diesel Fitter) and suitable trade experience.
• Knowledge in Metal Arc Welding / MIG / Oxy cutting and welding.
• Ability to work independently or in a small team environment.
• Knowledge of operations and maintenance of a diverse range of vehicles, plant and equipment.
• General Construction Safety Induction (White Card).
