We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Risk and Compliance Officer to join our team at AWP Australia Pty Ltd. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective management of risk and compliance across our business.
Key Responsibilities- Risk and Compliance Assessment and Assurance:
- Support the Operations Leadership Team and Business Owners on Risk & Compliance matters through the following activities:
- Actively assist in identifying any incidents occurring within the business function and determine if they are Risk related; Legal or Compliance issues; or any other matter
- Work collaboratively with your team within the business function and 2nd Line Risk and Compliance teams to immediately determine steps to be undertaken to identify and mitigate incidents inclusive of:
- Commencing initial incident investigation;
- Implementing immediate incident fixes to reduce both customer and business impact
- Determining root cause of the incident and liaising with other business function areas to identify reasons for; and frequency of occurrences;
- Assist with any Risk or Compliance control strengthening requirements to prevent re-occurrence;
- Provide support on corrective business actions or risk mitigation strategies;
- Proficient technical knowledge on operational processes, procedures, and business initiatives;
- Reporting:
- Report on all Risk and Compliance issues relating to your business function to your reporting manager; the Operations Leadership Team and 2nd Line Risk and Compliance Functions as required. Articulating upon how effective the existing processes/controls are in managing operational or compliance risks for your business function.
- Coordinate – compile and maintain risk and compliance reports, records of risk and compliance activities, assurance activities, and attestations as required.
- Perform review or checks of processes to ensure adherence to policies and procedures;
- Support agreed deadlines for reporting strategically focused reports for senior management as required that identify potential opportunities, gaps, and risks;
- Oversee the completion of Risk and Compliance attestations for your business function area to provide assurances to the 2nd line business;
- Planning and Coordination of Action Plans:
- Develop, plan, and implement effective corrective action plans or 1st line controls that relate to audit discovery, control testing, and assurance reviews.
- Support quality and practical governance of 1st line assurance initiatives;
- Ensure that all relevant stakeholders are engaged in the action plan and manage all stakeholder expectations;
- Coordinate communication around assurance matters that directly or indirectly affect the business functions;
- Support Technical Excellence through sustainable initiatives, strategies, and controls;
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Work collaboratively with all business stakeholders to facilitate and positively influence solutions;
- Development of ideas and processes, then communicated to relevant stakeholders and ensure the implementation of recommended mitigation initiatives, strategies, and controls;
- Learning and Development:
- Proactively provide effective and timely assurance input by analyzing legislative and regulatory assurance requirements and translating requirements into efficient operational processes, policies, and procedures;
- Ensure all employees are educated on the latest regulators and processes;
- Promote an ongoing development of a governance and assurance culture with ongoing training;
- Project Support:
- Support and assist in the implementation of various related initiatives;
- Work with Program/Project Managers to implement effective operational handovers to the business function, ensuring all downstream implications have been addressed;
- Provide specialist expertise and knowledge when required, which will help the project team to deliver its business objectives;
- Review, assist designing, and implement new measures where appropriate, new processes, policies, procedures, and systems changes relevant to the projects objectives to maximize benefits;
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- Mid-level experience in Insurance and/or financial services;
- Preferred RG146 accreditation or Cert III ANZIIF or similar qualification;
- Experience in creating business requirements, business plans, and project management plans;
- Knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements, risk management, and impact/cost of non-compliance;
- Knowledge of insurance industry, financial services/products, and related compliance requirements;
- Strong stakeholder engagement working collaboratively and effectively across all levels within the organization;
- Experience in managing small and medium-scale operational changes;
- Aptitude for analysis, investigations, and problem-solving;
