Maintenance Mechanic I

As a key member of our facilities team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our hospital's mechanical systems. Reporting to the Manager of Facilities, this position is responsible for the maintenance and repair of a wide range of equipment, including steam boilers, compressors, chillers, generators, pumps, fans, and more.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and maintain mechanical equipment in accordance with regulatory requirements;
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oiling and greasing moving mechanisms, checking water condition in boilers, and cleaning equipment;
  • Conduct electrical and electronic repairs, installation, and adjustments as permitted by training and experience;
  • Respond to trouble calls from hospital staff to provide assistance as required;
  • Assume the position of Hospital Fire Marshall during the absence of a designated person or alternate;
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • A minimum valid certification of qualification of 4th class issued under the authority of the Operating Engineers Act of the Province of Ontario;
  • Up to one-month on-the-job training to become familiar with plant layout and specific types of equipment may be given;
