Job Opportunity: Project Drilling Geologist

The role of the Project Drilling Geologist is a critical component of our underground diamond drilling operations. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving the underground drilling schedule and ensuring seamless integration of diamond drilling activities at various planning timeframes.

  • Develop and manage the underground drilling schedule to ensure efficient completion of diamond drill rigs.
  • Maintain open communication with stakeholders to facilitate collaboration and minimize delays.
  • Be adaptable and responsive to changes in project requirements, including the addition of short-term production-related holes.
  • Evaluate resources required for drilling, including sites, logging, and hole plans, to guarantee timely completion without impacting mine planning schedules.
  • Collaborate with other geologists on drill planning, rig management, and initial interpretation of drill intercepts to ensure accurate data entry.
  • Routinely review mine planning schedules and prioritize drill holes to gather missing data.
  • Conduct core logging, interpretation, flagging of intercepts, and wireframe updates.
  • Assist with the prioritization of logging orders for upcoming resource work.
  • Work closely with the production geology team on production holes or areas of ambiguity after development.
  • Participate in planning meetings to communicate the geology department's diamond drilling plans.
About You

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Drilling Geologist who possesses the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science (Geology)
  • Experience working in an underground mine environment (desirable)
  • Manual Driver's License
  • Ability to identify hazards, assess risks, and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Self-motivation and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated record of high performance and reliability.
  • Agility and willingness to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Strong team player with a positive attitude.
