Overview of the Role

This role involves providing critical forecasting support to ensure the smooth operation of our energy systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in statistical modelling and data analysis, with a strong understanding of energy markets.

About the Team

The Operational Forecasting team is a dynamic group that plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliability of our energy supply. We are looking for a skilled analyst who can contribute to our team's success.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement short-term forecasting models for electricity demand and renewable energy sources.
  2. Analyse weather data to inform forecasting decisions.
  3. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment of tools and data between different teams and markets.
  4. Contribute to operational advisories and market reports to support secure and reliable power system operations.
  5. Suggest improvements to existing forecasting applications and processes.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in science, engineering, mathematics, meteorology or a related field.
  • Experience in the energy sector or similar industry, preferably in an operations, forecasting or analytical role.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to prepare high-quality reports and presentations for a range of stakeholders.
  • A working knowledge of data analysis and statistical modelling techniques, including PowerBI, Databricks, SQL and Excel.
