Senior Mining Engineer

BHP is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mining Engineer to join our team in planning and scheduling waste and coal movements for a large open cut mine site.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring timely and optimized schedules that support the site to deliver on monthly and annual targets.

Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement mine planning strategies to optimize coal movements and waste management.
- Collaborate with operations teams to ensure seamless execution of plans.
- Provide input into term schedules and designs to strategically unlock performance.
- Identify and implement production planning improvement initiatives.
- Build cross-functional relationships with sub-functions and interact with planning sub-functions.
To be successful in this role, you will have a tertiary education background in Mining Engineering with previous experience working at an operations level.
You will have demonstrated experience working in mine planning teams, particularly designing, planning, and scheduling for open cut coal mines.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as well as the ability to build relationships across departments and communicate at all levels.
A strong working knowledge of design tools (SPRY/Deswik/Vulcan), Microsoft Office, and software packages is desirable.
