About this role, you'll have the opportunity to make a global impact through innovative product development.

A career in industrial design is unique and impacts people's lives worldwide. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to drive the development of innovative products from concept development through to mass production.

As an industrial designer, you'll be part of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for globally oriented small domestic kitchen appliances throughout all phases of the Product Development Process.

  • You'll utilize your expertise to make informed decisions and recommendations regarding project delivery.
  • You'll consider different perspectives, business values, and needs to effectively build arguments and negotiate across parties.
  • You'll communicate clearly and professionally with members of cross-functional teams and stakeholders to contribute to developing and launching projects.
  • You'll collaborate with external stakeholders (suppliers etc.) to successfully contribute to developing and launching projects.
  • You'll contribute to product development in terms of proposed schedules.
  • You'll contribute to product development in terms of proposed cost targets.
  • You'll contribute to project research phases pertaining managing aspects of required activities.
  • You'll empathize with target consumers to protect the product/SMOB (Single Moment Of Brilliance).
  • You'll contribute to appropriate product/component detailing during the development and industrialisation phases of product development.
  • You'll develop designs sympathetic to Breville's brand language and in line with Breville's Design Direction Philosophy.
  • You'll develop novel solutions and recognize opportunities with strategic value to Breville and work with the IP team to navigate the IP landscape.

Key Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 10 years' experience, exposed to best practice product development.
  • Conceptual design skills (comfortable with uncertainty, lateral approach, value analysis, intuitive, brainstorming).
  • CAD literacy (2D drawing, 3D solid modelling, graphic design software, image manipulation).
  • Hand model making (concept models, visual models).
  • Visualisation (hand sketching, 2D drafting, rendering).
  • Demonstrated experience of appropriate mass production manufacturing techniques and materials selection.
