The Regulatory Response Services branch is accountable for ensuring education, safety, and amenity of our community through provision of response services. This role provides leadership and support to Feral Animal Education and Control team.

This Officer will interpret legislation, regulations, policies, management plans, and strategies to develop processes and procedures. Effective strategies will be adopted to implement feral animal education and control projects and programs, ensuring high performance standards are maintained.

Key responsibilities include liaising effectively with members of the community, staff, Councillors, external consultants, sub-consultants, contractors or suppliers to ensure timely delivery of projects/programs/services.

Responsibilities also include managing preparation, implementation, and review of feral animal education and control projects and programs, including overseeing physical, financial, and administrative aspects and reporting performance.

This Officer will provide specialist knowledge to strategies, policies, standard operating guidelines, reports, briefings, submissions, and discussion papers on current and emerging issues relevant to feral animal education and control projects and programs.

Team leadership will foster a workplace culture consistent with Council's corporate values, promoting strong customer-focused teams and encouraging employee engagement, innovation, openness, participation, learning, and development.

Key qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Natural Resource Management, Environmental Health, or tertiary qualifications and/or significant relevant industry experience relating to pest animal control principles, techniques, and best practice.

A demonstrated ability to understand and apply legislation, policies, standards, regulations, and procedures relevant to the area of work is essential.

Ability to undertake Group Licence Holder role to manage Council's firearms, including competency in overseeing operational use of organisation firearms, maintenance, storage, registers, training, and auditing requirements.

Additionally, this role requires being available for on-call roster/out-of-hours demands relating to feral animal response.

It is prohibited from being employed in or operating a business as a second job associated with feral animal control.

Appointment to this position is subject to satisfactory completion of pre-employment medical assessment and Criminal History Check.
