Sydney, New South Wales, Australia beBeeQuantum Full time $125,000 - $175,000

Join a team dedicated to advancing the field of quantum technology. We're seeking a talented Software Engineer to play a key role in designing and building a scalable, high-performance backend system. This position involves collaborating with engineers and researchers to bridge the gap between high-level quantum programming and physical execution on quantum processing units (QPUs).

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in backend software development, with experience writing maintainable, testable code in Python. A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field is preferred, along with 3+ years of industry experience. Familiarity with OpenQASM3, OpenPulse, Qiskit, or other quantum programming frameworks is a plus.

About the Role

As a Software Engineer on our Boulder Opal team, you'll work on various tasks, including:

  • Maintaining and evolving the compiler stack that translates OpenQASM3 + OpenPulse programs into low-level controller instructions
  • Bridging research and engineering by working with researchers and quantum engineers to translate experimental needs into production-ready code
  • Experimenting on quantum hardware to validate compiler output and controller behaviors
  • Delivering high-efficiency service-to-service communication using modern protocols
  • Raising the bar on quality by enforcing best practices for clean, secure, and reliable code

We offer a competitive salary with equity and annual bonuses, as well as opportunities for professional growth and development. If you're passionate about quantum computing and backend engineering, we encourage you to apply.

Benefits

We strive to create a work environment that values flexibility, diversity, and collaboration. Our benefits include:

  • A flexible schedule to accommodate your needs
  • A diverse and inclusive workplace culture
  • Opportunities for personal and professional growth
What You'll Be Doing

You'll be responsible for building the backbone of our quantum technology, designing and developing scalable backend services. Your tasks will include:

  • Designing, developing, and optimizing scalable backend services
  • Owning the compiler stack and maintaining its evolution
  • Bridging research and engineering to deliver production-ready code
  • Experimenting on quantum hardware to validate compiler output

We're looking for someone who is proactive, solutions-focused, and has a passion for backend engineering and systems-level programming. If you're interested in joining our team, please apply with your resume and a cover letter.
