We are seeking dedicated and compassionate professionals to join our team in the North Queensland Region. As a Social Worker, you will play a crucial role in providing support and assistance to individuals and families facing various challenges.

Your key responsibilities will include assessing client needs, developing care plans, connecting clients with resources and services, advocating for their rights, and offering emotional support.

This is a professional position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the lower classification with eligibility for progression to the next, once specific criteria have been met or demonstrated.

  • Provide expert support and information for students, parents, carers, and school communities to facilitate partnerships in decision-making for the enhancement of all students' learning.
  • Use evidence-based intervention strategies to support young people experiencing challenges with mental health, social and emotional wellbeing.
  • Provide therapeutic counselling and support through individual or group sessions to address mild to moderate mental health concerns.
  • Facilitate referrals to other allied health professionals and services and assist students and families to access this support.
  • Support school communities by responding to critical incidents and emergencies as a part of the school response team.
  • Develop and/or maintain appropriate data collection and confidential records-keeping and reporting systems for individual students referred for social work services in line with department procedures and policies.
  • Participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team within an educational setting, providing support to schools, community, and inter-agency/networks relevant to the position.
