Job Summary
A Work Health and Safety Officer role is available at the Headquarters 17 Sustainment Brigade (HQ 17 Bde) in Randwick, NSW.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing WHS subject matter expertise and advice to the command chain and subordinate units. This includes developing and sustaining WHS risk management frameworks, contributing to internal governance arrangements, and working closely with other staff functions.
Responsibilities
- Provide WHS advice and subject matter expertise, including occupational health and hygiene, critical risk management, and WHS auditing.
- Develop and sustain WHS risk management frameworks that support Army's force preservation and assurance.
- Contribute to the maintenance of internal WHS governance arrangements and work closely with other staff functions.
- Collaborate on sensitive issues and WHS incident management.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
Requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Commonwealth and WHS Act regulations.
- Ability to provide WHS advice and subject matter expertise.
- Superior people management skills and ability to mentor, lead, and motivate a team.
- Demonstrated analytical skills and problem-solving ability.
- Excellent stakeholder management and engagement skills.
About Our Team
The successful candidate will be part of the Commander 17 Bde advisory team and will be mentored and guided by experienced WHS specialists. The team focuses on identifying and managing risk, removing unnecessary administrative activities, and supporting command in the event of a notifiable incident.
Benefits
- Salary: $91,702 - $104,753 + up to 15.4% Superannuation.
- Located at Randwick Barracks Sydney, with free on-site parking available and public transport to the front gate.
