Senior Employee Relations Manager Job Description

The Senior Employee Relations Manager plays a pivotal role in fostering a healthy and productive work environment. They partner with the business to build an exceptional employee experience by navigating workplace challenges and providing guidance and support.

This position entails conducting workplace investigations into employee relations concerns and making recommendations to business leaders to resolve workplace issues.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Managing Employee Relations (ER) cases involving interpersonal conflict and/or allegations of HR policy violations.
  • Analyzing context, facts, and documentation gathered within the case management process to develop balanced recommended actions that address any misconduct and restore damaged relationships.
  • Facilitating restorative conversations between employees with an emphasis on repairing relationships.
  • Maintaining confidential records within a shared case management tool; leveraging the tool to identify themes affecting employee groups or subgroups, and developing a measured response related to trends.
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • An undergraduate degree and a minimum of 7+ years of experience in employee relations, mediation, or human resources.
  • Strong case management skills, including planning, organization, attention to detail, and the ability to deliver multiple tasks or competing priorities within a time-sensitive environment.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • A thorough understanding of Australian employment principles, concepts, policies, and standards.
