Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Artist to support our upcoming CG feature film. This role is responsible for creating high-quality stylized textures, shading, and look development.

  • Work on all areas of surfacing, including texture painting, procedural texturing, shading, and lookdev, grooming, instancing, UV layout, and sculpting.
  • Interpret 2D designs, reference material, and artistic direction and translate that into 3D textures and surfacing while maintaining the original artistic intent.
  • Assume responsibility for ensuring assigned work is produced to the expected standard of quality within the scheduled timeframe and deadline.
  • Maintain good communication with the Surfacing Lead, production, and the team.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for making beautiful-looking CG objects, environments, and characters, with proven technical and visual skills and an understanding of art and design within an animation environment.

Key Requirements

To be considered for this position, you should have:

  • At least 3 years' experience working on high-quality shading, surfacing, and texturing.
  • Proven track record in animated features, feature films (VFX), or high-end episodics.
  • Extensive knowledge of shader creation and implementation.
  • Proficiency with Mari and Maya.

Additionally, experience using Houdini, strong communication, organisational, and time management skills, as well as a good understanding of lighting and colour theory would be beneficial.
