Job Title: Visual Effects Artist

We are seeking an experienced Visual Effects Artist to join our team in the production of a CG feature film. This role is responsible for creating high-quality visual effects, including textures, shading, and look development, while maintaining the original artistic intent.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work on all areas of visual effects, including texture painting, procedural texturing, shading, and look development, grooming, instancing, UV layout, and sculpting.
  • Create high-quality stylized textures, either hand-painted or procedural, to a level of detail necessary for production assets.
  • Interpret 2D designs, reference material, and artistic direction and translate that into 3D textures and visual effects while maintaining the original artistic intent.
  • Assume responsibility for ensuring assigned work is produced to the expected standard of quality within the scheduled timeframe and deadline.
  • Maintain good communication with the lead artist, production, and the team.
  • Help establish and maintain a consistent style for the project.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure successful completion of tasks.

Requirements:

  • A passion for creating visually stunning images and environments.
  • Proven technical and visual skills with an understanding of art and design within an animation environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to interpret design down to its fundamentals.
  • 3+ years' experience working on high-quality visual effects, including shading, surfacing, and texturing.
  • Extensive knowledge of shader creation and implementation will be considered a bonus, as will experience using Houdini.
  • Proficiency with Mari and Maya.
