Data Storage Engineer – IT Infrastructure Specialist

Launch Recruitment is seeking a Data Storage Engineer to support our Fed Gov client in Melbourne or Canberra. The estimated salary for this role is $90,000 - $110,000 per annum.

About the Role

This 12-month contract position requires expertise in SAN, NAS, converged infrastructure, public cloud storage platforms, and backup systems. As a Support Storage Engineer, you will assist in the establishment and ongoing management of our storage infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and availability.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Infrastructure Setup and Preparation:
    • Formulate and submit requests for information related to storage platform implementation and operation.
    • Review available documentation and participate in workshops to understand existing storage systems.
    • Develop and maintain storage operations documentation, such as System Understanding Documents and Standard Operating Procedures.
    • Demonstrate readiness for service go-live in accordance with the established service plan and schedule.
  • Ongoing Storage Operations and Administration:
    • Monitor storage systems to ensure their health and performance.
    • Conduct regular health checks, performance management, and availability management.
    • Manage storage capacity, perform patching, and handle routine administration and maintenance tasks.
    • Resolve incidents in both production and non-production environments.
    • Provision storage resources and fulfill service requests related to storage.
  • Documentation and Process Improvement:
    • Create comprehensive documentation for storage infrastructure, processes, and procedures.
    • Align storage operations with DevOps and Agile principles.
    • Support the adoption of automation for storage management and operational tasks.
  • Collaboration and Compliance:
    • Work closely with other storage administrators and broader infrastructure teams.
    • Implement and adhere to security best practices, ensuring compliance with applicable standards.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and technologies to drive continuous improvement.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Familiarity with SAN, NAS, converged infrastructure, public cloud storage platforms, and backup systems.
  • Certifications: Basic knowledge of IT Service Management and ITIL frameworks, preferably ITIL v4 certified.
  • Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Attributes: Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
